    Workout Motivation

If I struggle with any one thing when it comes to working out, it is definitely motivation. There are times I just struggle to push myself through the first few minutes hoping that it will all click together and I will want to do more. I play little games with myself like if I get to 10 minutes on the elliptical and want to stop, I can. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Do others have trouble with motivation? What do you all do when you are feeling a little lazy about working out, but know that you really need to do it?

Buffy, even the best exercisers in the world get a case of the lazies now and than. That is ok, but you have to look for a long term goal. What are you working for, less weight, better health, look good on the beach, attract a mate, or whatever your goal is. The goal has to be personal and not what others tell you. This is what you need to think about everyday. If you do this, it will help keep your eye on the prize.

My second advice is get a workout partner who you can rely on. When you feel lazy or the other person feels lazy, you can kick each other in to go mode.

    Re: Workout Motivation

Yeah motivation is one thing we all lack some times. That is the only reason we have started this commune to get motivated and motivate others.

Initially we get the motivation from fellow bodybuilders in the gym. At times I hang posters of bodybuilders  in my bedroom.

I always am hanging my 34 inch jeans in my wardrobe on the first place.. (Now I am using 40)

Blow up of my college photos when I used to weigh 160 lbs.

Always have a couple of training videos in the DVD rack

Have desktop pics and screen savers of body builders.

Visualize a beach filled with sleek slim guys and myself strolling with a pot belly..

When I say bodybuilder photos, it  doesn't need to be Chris Masters, a Bradd Pitt body will do :-)

Thanks for the great tips. I especially like the visual motivators like pants and pictures. I have heard that before, but sometimes we forget the best advice we hear. It is nice to get reminders. Right now, my motivation is high, but I am going to print these ideas so that I have them when needed which if I know me, won't be terribly long.

Hi BabyGurl.. I guess you have enough options at school for physical activity.. What sport activities are you indulged in? You may get lot of motivation from your fellow schoolmates as well.

I find listening to music, having variety with workout routines, and doing it with other friends helps motivate me.
