    Using Free Weights

Due to space restraints at home, I have had to get a set of free weights to take the place of the machines that I use when I am at the gym. It seems to be a nice balance. I have noticed that by varying the two types of weights, I am definitely seeing a little additional definition in my arms especially. Sometimes, I know that our bodies get to use to things, so it might have been time to change things up a bit. I have never used a lot of free weights because to be honest, I felt like I was getting a better workout on the machines, but I now think that I need to do both. It works out because when I am at the gym working, I can workout as long as it is slow or before/after shifts and the last place I want to go on my days off is the gym so I sue the free weights. I highly advise if you are looking to tweak your workout a little, invest in a few free weights for your time at home. It will make a difference.

    Re: Using Free Weights

Free weights can help if you know how to use them. It all depends on the lifts you do. If your looking for biceps you need to do curls. Triceps you need to do dead lifts. DONT OVER DO IT. ripping a bi or tricep is like putting a nail in your arm. So i highly recommend start off light and work your way up. If your stuck on a certain weight dont ever go lower. Even if your putting half weights on it your still pushing your body.

You bring out many good points. Ripping the muscles in you arms can be a killer. One you won't soon forget that I can tell you. I agree about going backwards. So many times at the gym when someone is having an off day, they want to back step on the amount of weights and I try to tell them exactly what you said about doing half the reps at the same weight.  It is hard to convince someone that in the long run, that is better for them.
