    Interval Training

I have been reading a lot about interval training when using the treadmill or elliptical. It sounds like a great idea and I have tried it a few times. I still have to wonder if it burns as much and gives as good a workout as just going at high intensity for most of the workout with a warm up and a cool down phase.  When I have tried the interval training, it has been a good workout and I have felt better overall, but I just didn't feel quite as exhausted. Maybe that is a good thing, I am not sure. I am currently experimenting with a few different kinds of workouts and trying to make out a plan that works for me. Simply put, I want what works best so I am not wasting a bunch of my time and energy.

    Re: Interval Training

My coach on the football team always says " if it burns your building " which is true. when your muscles burn you are ripping them. When they heal they build over the ripped muscle causeing bulk. So like on the treadmill if your running and your out of breath it is helping.. but if you feel no burn there isnt much building. But pacing yourself is another key. If you throw all you got into one workout you will lose stamina and grow tired.

    Re: Interval Training

Interval Training is the number one best way to burn fat with the least amount of work. The old saying "no pain no gain" has not held the test of time. You can get more benefit from  a shorter interval workout than you can from a longer higher intensity workout. The reason being is that the constant changing keeps the body confused and causes it to adjust to the different changes. If you go at one pace all the time, you body gets use to it and quits working as hard. There are many interval training workouts, find the best one for you and you will be surprised by the results.
