The bench press should be a must for every guy that wants a bigger chest and you shouldn't skip it or replace it with another exercise UNLESS you have a history of back or shoulder pains.

It definitely should be used under the guidance of a trainer.
If used in a wrong position , it may cause severe irrepairable back , shoulder elbow and wrist injuries.
I totally agree, although you could ask a friend who knows how to assist you, instead of a trainer.
If you keep your back flat out against the bench AT ALL TIMES you should be fine.
