i am of age 23, recently i found that my blood pressure is very high.

All this started few days ago and makes me very conscious about my daily diet.

Re: High Blood Pressure and Diet

My dad has high blood pressure and he take medicine and has cut salt from his diet. We used to have well water and the doctor said that wouldn't effect his blood pressure (the salt in the water softener), but when we switched to city water, his blood pressure when down to a lower level. Another thing is that with his medicine he can only eat at certain times of the day and he really has to follows those directions because his blood pressure can go kind of high when he doesn't.

Re: High Blood Pressure and Diet

I wonder, you suffer with high blood pressure at this age. I remember, it’s hereditary. In addition to diet, sometimes other non-drug method also reduces bp by 10 to 15 mm hg.

Healthy diet: - Go for lot of fruits and green leafy vegetables. Reduce salt intake. 4 to 5 gms per day is recommended. If you are overweight, try to lose weight. Cut the amounts and varieties of fat and cholesterol in your diet. Avoid alcohol and smoking as well.

Regular exercise like jogging, cycling, walking at least 3 to 4 times a week help to reduce high blood pressure. . But regular exercise can help more.

Blood pressure links with tension, anxiety, and worries. So change your lifestyle. Try to find what to get away and relax often. Meditation & yoga are best way to reduce tension or stress and thus blood pressure.
