    Using Music to Motivate

I recently purchased a MP3 player to workout with at the gym. It really seems to help a lot. The gym always has music in the background, but it never seems to be music I enjoy and it is so drowned out by all the activity. One of my favorite songs on my playlist is "Eye of the Tiger". I wonder if any of you use music while working out and if so, what is on your playlist?

My playlist is ever changing as I have a large amount of songs stored on my Ipod. I agree that music is very motivating and can actually get me moving in the right direction. I once read an article about picking songs that have a certain number of beats per minute, but I tend to just go with personal favorites. I really like to listen to "Mony Mony" by Billy Idol when lifting. I don't know why, but that is one that pumps me up. However it is one of many that I will hear during a workout.

Its lot better to have an ipod or any other mp3 player playing fast numbers.. There are some special music to create the exercising mood. As you said the Gym music is horrible some times and most of the time repetitive. It happens that some of the music played in Gyms actually demotivate..

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.

Often times, at least I know in the gym that I work in, the people working out decide on the music. That is a great thing unless, someone else is there first or you are really unassertive and would never touch the stereo anyway. So, brining your mp3 or ipod is a great plan to account for this. I have even seen people that have a book or something recorded on to theirs and listen to it. They only caution I give with that is to make sure the focus in on working out still and not on the book.

Yea music is a sure motivator. I try to get electronic songs (i.e Techno) they are kinda motivating a little fast paced and a sing along kind of rhythm. you have to use music so it doesn't get to boring. my favorite song is Dr alban. This time i am free

I love music so much i listen to it 3 hours a day. Music with exercise is like having some grilled thanksgiving turkey served with ice cream.  Music is highly recommended the beats increase your work rate and your metabolism increases. the only problem is you wont be aware of whats happening which is quite dangerous

Music to me is the number one thing needed after your zeal to succeed. Does anyone notice exercise gets very boring especially when we have to keep it forever to stay healthy and fit. Music gets me going everyone has a preference for their type of music mine is old skool dico especially artists like disco inferno

Music for exercise I always thought this is a prerequisite. You need something apart from your zeal for exercise to keep you going.  I would suggest you either listen to music or you do some other things maybe like clapping or j dancing in a way to some imaginary music I d tell you exercise without music is not interesting.
